Originally my insurance sent me in to get my eyes examined for Lasik . However after three visits Dr. Mason suggested that I wait a couple years to have the surgery done . I am really glad he took the time to be very through. I would not want to ruin my eyes since I only have one pair.. If you are looking for a really good local eye doctor Optometrist in the Bonita, or Chula Vista Area Dr. Mason is great . They have a great selection of glasses & the prices are very reasonable &the staff is friendly & professional & they worked around my busy schedule. Thanks Guys!! Aug 17, 2011: David- Dr. Mason is awesome. I filled my eyes with bits of rusty metal while using a high-speed grinder. Dr. Mason cleaned out my eyes quickly and completely. Everyone in his office was nice. They kept to their schedule--I didn't have a long wait time. Very professional. I'll be using this office and Dr. in the future.

Dr. Mason is intelligent, well educated, and appears dedicated to establishing a close rapport with his patients. My family has used Dr. Mason from the beginning (over 20 years) and have always been impressed by his professionalism and his patience. I particularly like the fact that Dr. Mason actually listens. I highly recommend this office and especially Dr. Mason!

Jan 16, 2010: Mary - Outstanding Optometry Professionals! I am a post RK patient and since my eyesight fluctuated quite a bit I now need glasses for everyday use. Imagine my surprise when Dr. Mason told me I might be able to wear hard lenses instead of glasses! EVERY other doctor had told me, "No way." Although it took a little time to get the correct and comfortable fit, I now enjoy seeing through contacts! Especially since I get to wear my favorite sunglasses!! I highly recommend Bonita Point Family Optometry! Dr. Mason is awesome, smart, and patient! He will answer every question you have and explain it to you in detail. Be prepared if you are accustomed to being "rushed" in and out during any type of medical appoinments. You will NOT experience that here! Ruby, Patti, and Maggie are wonderful! They ... When ever I go I never wait more than 5 minutes they are always on time & the service is very family oriented. Dr Mason is one of the best in the biz .

6/7/2011: J. B., San Diego- I am going to keep this simple . This is by far the best "eye doctor" in the Chula Vista, Bonita area hands down. The quality care, service & follow up are the best I have ever received from any doctor's office I have ever been to period. I would recommend them highly. BTW: The photos do not do the office justice it is so much nicer in person. great selection of glasses at very reasonable prices.
3/7/2011: Seymour H., San Diego- You want to talk about 1st class . This is it. Dr mason is one of the Best optometrist in SD. The staff is awesome especially Ruby & Maggie great family service. I used to go to lens craters but I wont go back there any more. When I find a good doctor I stick with em ,because these days it seems quality care is out the window. In most practices all they care about is to turn em & burn em. Not here. The office is nice & you feel right at home there. Have allot of lenses to choose from. You will end up with what you need & be seeing better.

12/30/2010: Michelle M., Chula Vista- I've been going to Dr. Mason for about 8 years. He won me over when he saw my son (age 4) at the time on an emergency (he poked his eye with an agave plant) and saved me a trip to urgent care. He was so good with him and he is not even a pediatric specialist. His staff is great and he's always very thorough. I wear contacts and as I'm getting older, my vision issues are changing. He's been patient with trying to get just the right prescription. I recommend him to everyone.
3/31/2010: Daniella M., Bonita- Let me start off by saying I don't like spending money. I really don't. Don't. Don't. Don't. Especially when I don't have to. A few years ago, my awesome coverage under my parents ended and I went with a company that no longer covered my awesome optometrist, Dr. Mason. After one trip to a different optometrist, I learned my lesson and scurried back to the honest expertise of Dr. Mason. I don't care if I have to pay out of pocket. (Holy moley - hell just froze over!) Let me break it down: 1.) When I switched to contacts as a teenager, it took me several HOURS before I could get them in because well, I'm special sometimes. Hours, people. Dr. Mason and his staff were patient, even when I started crying because I was so embarrassed and frustrated. 2.) Dr. Mason doesn't hop on the "next big thing" bus every time it rounds the block. Even if that means his profit margin is slimmer. He's open to innovation when it's legit. But, he doesn't support expensive treatments for the sake of expensive treatments. He cares about results and what's best for his patients. That's rare in the medical community. 3.) He's not a naturopathic doctor, but he'll recommend natural options if he believes they're sound. Case in point: I have dry eye syndrome. A lot of doctors like to shove medications down their patients' throats ("Overweight? Try these pills!"). Dr. Mason not only took the time to thoroughly explain what caused dry eye (as in, I could actually explain it to other people because he used small words and metaphors!), his recommendations are user friendly and medication-as-a-last-resort oriented. 4.) Everything they do is quality. The staff is honest if those trendy glasses actually make you look like poo on toast (My new sunglasses? They told me they looked too old for me, a fact my boyfriend later confirmed. But that's ok. I still like the shades and LOVE the honest feedback.) I have a pair of Costco prescription sunglasses and I've never been happy with them. Everything I've purchased from Dr. Mason has looked great and stood up over the years. 5.) I actually look forward to my appointments which are quick as lightening thanks to superb staff and of course, Doc Mason. They're all hilarious too. In summary: I will follow Dr. Mason wherever he may go. If I ever move out of San Diego (which I have), I will time my visits to coincide with my returns (which I have).

Dr. Mason has given me better than 20/20 vision for years. Dr. Mason is an amazing eye doctor, the pricing is reasonable and the staff is outstanding.

12/5/2009: Mel M., Chula Vista- I took my daughter to Dr. Mason for the first time last month. I felt instantly comfortable and so did my 9 year old daughter. She has had several eye exams so luckily she is use to all the tests. I really liked that it is an office for anyone...adults and kids as well. They even had a play area for my younger child to play while my daughter had her exam. What stands out the most is that Dr. Mason suggested that my daughter have her blood sugar tested since her eyes change so frequently. I've mentioned to several previous optometrists that her eyes change every six months or so and not one has ever recommended the possible link between blood sugar and vision. I am grateful for his expertise and made an appointment for my daughter to have it checked.

12/01/09: Jim S., Chula Vista- Dr. Mason and his staff are top notch. I never had problems with my eyes until I was about 43 and then started having trouble reading up close. I went to go see Dr. Mason because he was wife's optometrist for years. His staff set me up with my new set of glasses and I was once again reading well. While playing with my son one Saturday night, he scratch my cornea - very painful. I called Dr. Mason and he came into the office the next morning to check out my eye, gave me some drops to keep it lubed and with 2 days I was back to normal. A year later, the same thing happened (on a weekend of course). Another call to Dr. Mason and he took the time from his vacation to make sure that I got the proper medicine to keep the eye from getting infected. He and his staff have the highest professionalism and he treats you like you were family. Looking for an optometrist? Look no further. I would never go anywhere else.

I have been a client for over 20 years, and I've always been happy with the care, the staff and the wonderful selection of glasses & sunglasses. Many members of my family see Dr. Mason, and we are happy to be long time patients of his practice. One time, I had this strange optical emergency (a tiny piece of plastic got stuck in my retina!), and he saw me immediately. He's smart, funny & a great family man. I'm happy to recommend him to anyone who needs glasses, contacts or eye care of any type.

During that time, Dr. Mason has procured the state of the art diagnostic equipment for his patients. A thorough eye "physical" is done at each appointment. Providing appropriate correctional glasses and contact lenses is a priority. Along with testing for macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other eye conditions, the staff (Patti, Maggie, and Ruby), consistently provides expert service in choosing glasses and training patients to use contacts. The staff is friendly, helpful and on call during business hours to serve your needs. Emergency services are also provided. From scratched corneas to eye infections, Dr. Mason is highly trained to maintain optimum eye health. I recommend him highly.
3/2/2009: Angela H.- San Diego, CA WOO! I got new glasses! They're the ones I'm wearing in my profile pic, ps. But Dr. Mason and his staff are awesome--super friendly, helpful, honest. Yeah, they tell you when those super $$$ glasses look like sh** on your face, but they're nicer about than I would be. I've been going here on and off for several years, depending on my insurance plan, and I've always been more than satisfied. I got my first pair of contacts here, I've gotten numerous pairs of glasses, and my mom likes them! She's the customer service nazi. If she's satisfied, I don't know why you shouldn't be. And ps, I love how Dr. Mason wears hawaiian shirts. And the blond lady kind of reminds me of Sarah Palin.
