In 1953 Optometrist Dr. William Nelson began private practice also on Third Avenue Chula Vista. He was joined in 1959 by Dr. Keith Wilson and then in 1969 by Dr. Robert Wold.

In 1991 these two practices merged into one large practice. The founding fathers retired and the merger allowed us to provide a broad scope of professional services as well as care the the visual needs of our community. That same year we opened a satellite office at the Bonita Point Plaza to serve the growing population in East Chula Vista area this office was named Bonita Point Family Optometry. What was once a quiet office that could accommodate part time professional care had grown to the point that we decided each of us needed to focus our full time attention on one office and patient base.

January 1, 1998 we separated the two offices with Dr. Mason devoting full time and ownership at Bonita Point Family Optometry (746 Otay Lakes Rd.- across from Bonita Vista High School) and Dr. Wold at Chula Vista Family Optometry (353 H St. Suite C between Third and Fourth Ave). At a time when most other professionals were getting into larger offices with less personal service we made this decision to provide the type of care that had allowed our practices to thrive since the early 1940's.

We provide eye examinations and consultations concerning your visual condition. We offer prescription services for common eye conditions such as "Pink Eye" or conjunctivitis. We offer prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses and have an optical laboratory on premise. We stock a large selection of frames from the inexpensive to the high end designer classics. Of course, you are always welcome to have a copy of your prescription to be filled at the optical laboratory of your choosing. (Contact lens prescriptions given assuming proper follow-up care provided, ocular integrity uncompromised and patient adaptation finished.)

In short we provide family vision care in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. In addition to the above services we comanage cataract and refractive treatment surgeries (such as PRK and LASIK) with Ophthalmological surgeons our experience has shown to be the finest in the region.
